I visit my local thrift stores at least twice a week. Lately, I hadn't found anything that has 'caught' me! So, this week I would like to share an 'Oldie, but Goodie' Junk Love find...
...this weaving loom!
I finished weaving the project that was 'attached' when I purchased the loom. I've been checking out a weaving project thumbing through my Threads magazine. It is featured in March 2010 issue in 'Embellishments' by Shirley Adams; the article is called Abstract Weaving. It's actually for pin weaving to create intricate fabric.
All accessories included! Reminds me of my camping days of my childhood. All of the wonderful crafts we created!
Hopefully, this week there will be something that 'catches' me! Oh, I am purchasing a vintage sewing machine this evening that I found on Craigslist.
And, a short update on the sewing machine that was given to me while visiting a friend the day after her cleaning. The parts to convert this machine to a hand crank have been ordered and I am now awaiting for their arrival (possibly, next week).
Until next time...Peace and Junk Love!

One of My Favorite Places...and, not only for the obvious!
My favorite kind of shopping is fabric shopping. All the colors and textures of fabrics; all kinds of ideas and creations running through my mind. It's euphoric for me!
I visit thrift stores, garage/estate sales, and the small local fabric shops for my fabrics. If I need a 'specialty' fabric for a specific project or client, or just to see what's new, I visit my local JoAnn Fabrics in Altamonte Springs, Florida.
I LOVE this neighborhood JoAnn store! Not only for the many things I can rummage through and that 'euphoric' thing...but, most importantly, the customer service.
There is a particular employee at the store who always has a smile and is always helpful and courteous! And, by the time you leave her line (even if you're not feeling 'happy'), you will leave with a smile on your face!
This blog is in appreciation to you my friend (don't know your name, sorry) for being the person you are AND working at one of my favorite places!
Thank you!

Can You Spare Some Change?...
I could! I needed to change my medium in creating. Thought I'd work on a quick knitting project. I found this pattern on Joann.com. What a great thing to make is this knitting cup holder. I used scrap yarn and made everyone's favorite three colors as a tri-color and one solid color favorite. The one displayed is my husband's tri-color holder.

Me and my family have millions of pens, pencils, scissors, crayons, and knitting/crocheting needles that need an organized home. And besides, we also have the empty soup cans. Great way to help the environment and have eye-catching storage on display!
(clank, clank, clank)

SEWed Up!...rice bag/ergonomic arm rest
Last week, I suffered with carpel tunnel pain which disabled me from sewing! I was not a happy girl. Two days earlier, I had cut all the fabric to make rice bags (including one for myself). The only bag completed at that time, was my own. Rice bags are such a good thing! You can use them for hot/cold use on joints, swelling and bruising. Just pop them in the microwave or freezer and place on your 'boo-boo'.
Well, I couldn't complete the bags with the pain, but I needed to get on the computer to do some work. Took the one bag I made for myself, popped in the microwave and set it in front of my keyboard to use as an arm rest/pad. The heat helped so much! So, my rice bag sits in front of my keyboard ALL of the time.
So, now that my arm is all better and I can sew - which makes me a HAPPY girl! I am completing the remaining rice bags for my shop.
How's your wrist/arm feeling? Need a rice bag?
SEWed Up!...slippers
It's absolutely freezing for Florida. Temperature last night was 30 degrees and it will only warm up to 51 degrees today. B-r-r-r-r-r-r! Kids went back to school, after being home for 2 days (including the weekend). Now, I can breathe and finish some projects.
These slippers are so cute! I made them to fit a toddler. Not much fabric to use; 2 fat quarters. Felt for slipper sole; rickrack and a little bit of elastic for back. They fit my friend's daughter perfectly!
I will soon make a pair to fit an adult. Since adults are not carried much, I will sew gripper soles on the adult sizes. I am thinking of using blue jeans. We have several pairs that are recyclable. Gotta stay eco-friendly!
Until next time...

SEWed Up!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Well, I've started on my projects for this year! I had a great time going home for Christmas and being with my family!

This doll is for my second Godmother. I've named her Organica! Her body is made from a hibiscus print and her hair is chenille yarn. She even has pretty earrings! I think her name fits her exactly!
